Today’s churches are having a find time holding onto their worship leaders, and at times it seems that every song rubs someone the wrong way. Why is this? Kenny Lamm, the Worship Consultant for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, has this to say about the situation: […]

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before. An admitted Trekkie, I went into official mourning last week as my wife and I watched the concluding […]

“May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you…may He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose… Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” – Psalm 20:1, […]

Well, I’ve dropped out of the wonderful world of blogging for a while…I suppose that moving across state lines, packing and unpacking all of your worldly goods, and beginning a new ministry will do that! But we’ve now settled in the beautiful desert mountains of New Mexico, where the people are friendly, the sun is bright and hot, and salsa only comes in “spicy” and “spiciest!”
It really has been a wonderful transition, and our new church family has welcomed us with open arms. At our Pastor’s Welcome Potluck, I became accustomed to having someone flag me down from across the room, calling “Pastor John…Pastor John!”
Pastor. Shepherd. What an honor, what a responsibility, and what a joy. I used to wonder what sort of work the Lord would call me to do, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with His choice.
I also take great comfort in the fact that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, goes before me and walks beside me in my every endeavor. Each of us has been called to shepherd others in some capacity, and as long as we follow His lead, all will be well.
Blessings to you, my fellow shepherds!

“You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit.” – John 15:16 Yesterday was an exciting day for my wife and I, as our church held a special Ordination Service in our honor and officially ordained me to the Gospel Ministry! As I […]

Giving is beginning to become a dirty word in churches, which is a truly unfortunate thing. I’ve been a little disappointed to find that in many modern churches, the offering is no longer given a place within the worship service. As an alternative, churches now expect their members to pay their tithes online or […]

It was a small miracle – my wife and I watched an entire movie the other day without having to plug our ears or avert our eyes once! And… you guessed it. We were, of course, watching a cartoon. The movie was The Croods, which recently became available on Netflix. Finding a clean movie was […]
