John Mark Miller began his musical career at the age of seven, when he started piano lessons and singing solos in the Baptist church where his father served as pastor. Since giving his heart and life to Christ at twelve years old, he has made it his goal to serve the Lord through his artistic gifts.
He received a Bachelor of Music from Dallas Baptist University in 2005, a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University in 2009, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2015, and a Doctor of Ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2021.
He has served as Senior Pastor, K-12 School Director, Adjunct Professor, and High School English/Bible Teacher. Now he has the great honor of serving Soldiers as a U.S. Army Chaplain.
John Mark is married to Janelle, his college sweetheart, and the Lord has blessed them with two beautiful children. The Miller family resides in Clarksville, Tennessee.

John Mark, I owe you a book! You were one of the winners in my Great Dates Contest in September, but I don’t recall ever getting your mailing address to send you the book. Of course, that was around the time we got our foster care placement and my dad passed away suddenly … and now I am embarrassed to say I am just remembering the book. Would you please email me (paigehamilton@lusfiber.net) with your address so that I can get that book out to you and your beautiful wife?

Oh, you don’t owe me anything! I sent you the e-mail, but don’t worry about the book… I was just honored and thrilled to be a contest winner!

John, I am writing to ask if you would be interested in featuring my new art project on your blog in the lead up to Easter. My name is Michael Henderson, Senior Pastor or Frenchs Forest Baptist Church, Sydney Australia.
Endorsements
The planned scope of the paintings will combine into a kind of contemplative space for people to encounter God for themselves. I can’t wait to see them.
Michael Frost, Author, Morling Theological College, Sydney
This project takes the viewer on a visual journey of God’s love and sacrifice, his faithfulness and mercy, juxtaposed with our human response. I’m fascinated to see the response and to be challenged by these powerful artworks myself.
Levi McGrath, Social Justice Musician, http://www.levimcgrath.com.au
I am raising funds to create the final paintings through a Kickstarter Campaign. I am not after donations. Supporters purchase “rewards” through Kickstarter, objects related to the final paintings, like a book, postcards, digital images, original works, etc. The art project centres on three things:
– I am creating a series of 16 paintings (go to links below to see the paintings) on aspects of the human experience of life, the beauty and struggles of this experience, using familiar events from the Bible. I hope for the paintings to get people to stop and think about the things of God. But here is where the paintings have a different approach. I often find that when I have a conversation about God, it feels like squeezing into a cluttered room. The conversation is full of other people’s old junk and arguments, and if God is in there I never seem to find him. My big aim with this series is to give people space, both physical and mental space, like a sparsely furnished room, where they can sit and have a conversation with God and feel like they have freedom to expand into the room, space to bring themselves as the explore God.
– Once these paintings are produced I plan to give them away to a non-profit organisation, one who shares my vision to provide that space to explore the things of God.
– I am crowd-funding (Kickstarter) to raise the funds to paint them and to gather supporters (as Art and Christianity do not always mix).
The crowd-funding campaign is scheduled for all of March. I would like you to represent this campaign on your blog. I can make the sketches (images) available to you in the lead up to Easter, and provide appropriate follow up after March should you pursue this.
The Kickstarter Campaign is primarily about developing relationships with supporters. I am not after donations. I would like you to me help build these relationships by promoting the campaign. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks,
Michael Henderson

Short Biography
My name is Michael Henderson and I am 42 years old. I am married to Tiffany, and we have two children, Gabrielle who is 15 and Samuel who is 12. I really like skateboarding, Art, and getting lost. Overgrown lawns make me smile, as to me they’re a symbol of freedom in a carefully controlled world.
My background is both as an artist and a pastor. I have formally studied both Visual Art (University of Western Sydney) and Theology (Morling Baptist College, Sydney). And, I continue to work as both a visual artist (Artist Residency at Arteles Creative Centre, Finland 2014, the fortyseven(47) installation group) and a Pastor (Frenchs Forest Baptist Church, Sydney).
