Christmas Memory

The annual Christmas Giveaway here at The Artistic Christian is about to come to a close. Contestants must turn in their entries by midnight (CST) on Monday, December 15 to participate.

What Do I Have To Do?

It’s as simple as pumpkin pie! Just write down your favorite Christmas memory and share it in the comments section below to be automatically entered in the contest.

What Will I Win?

Everyone who participates will be included in a “Christmas Memories Newsletter” blog-post, which will feature an active link back to your own blog.

One lucky contestant will be selected to win a free copy of Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory – 50th Anniversary Edition, which includes a heartwarming Christmas story, beautiful illustrations, and a CD.

An Excerpt from A Christmas Memory:

Just to give you a feel for this classic Christmas tale, I wanted to include one of my favorite lines from the book. As a young boy and an elderly woman fly a kite together, the elderly woman says the following:

“My, how foolish I am! You know what I’ve always thought? I’ve always thought a body would have to be sick and dying before they saw the Lord. And I imagined that when He came it would be like looking at the Baptist window: pretty as colored glass with the sun pouring through, such a shine you don’t know it’s getting dark. And it’s been a comfort: to think of that shine taking away all the spooky feeling. But I’ll wager it never happens. I’ll wager at the very end a body realizes the Lord has already shown Himself. That things as they are, just what they’ve always seen, was seeing Him. As for me, I could leave the world with today in my eyes.”

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

    1. This was a great story, with a wonderful message for us all about what gives a gift its value. Thanks for submitting this!

Now for the really important question… you didn’t try using the skis and the bows and arrows all at the same time, did you?

  1. I wrote another memory … just because I felt so inspired. Please don’t think I am trying to do a double entry! Just pick one of mine (I don’t care which one) and use it. I wrote the other memory just for fun, but wanted to ping back to you so that you might get a few more readers and maybe another inspired entry. 🙂
