Jeff knew it was going to be a bad day when three alarms started bleeping on his cell phone at once. Fighting to keep one hand steady on the steering wheel, he grabbed for the phone.
“Need your project ASAP,” his business partner’s message read.
With a sigh, he sent a text: “Need more time.”
Ignoring the irate response, he clicked over to the next reminder.
“Mortgage payment due today.”
But the message from his wife brought a cry from his lips. “What! Pregnant?”
He never saw the car in front of him slam its brakes, but heard the sickening sound of impact and lost his breath as the air bag punched his chest.
As he watched the tow truck haul off his totaled vehicle, he held his face in his hands.
“This is too much, God,” he murmured. “I can’t handle this.”
A moment later an old Chevy pickup pulled to the curb. “Hey,” called the driver. “You look like you could use a ride. Hop in!”
Grabbing his suit coat and briefcase, Jeff climbed into the bed of the pickup and held on for dear life as the sped down the road. He noticed a window decal which read, “Nothing is impossible for God.”
He bowed his head. “Okay God…I get it.”
When they reached a gas station Jeff leaped out. As he turned to tip the driver, however, the truck was gone.
The sun seemed to shine a little brighter…
And Jeff smiled.
